Home / Academic Programs / WANIC Summer Programs / WANIC Intro to Computer Programming
This course is designed exclusively for students who are brand new to coding and computer science — perfect for those who are curious about technology or logical thinking but have never written a line of code.
The emphasis is on foundational software engineering processes and the problem-solving mindset that underlies all programming — not mastery of syntax or any single language. Topics include variables, conditional statements, loops, functions, and arrays, developed through structured and methodical practice applied to real applications like games and data tools. Students leave with both practical skills and the confidence to pursue more advanced study in the field.
ALL students in this class attend in person 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
LOCATION: Lake Washington High School
This program is primarily for students entering high school (grades 9-12). Students must be part of the WANIC consortium (no out-of-consortium).
