DigiPen Academy Student Music & Sound

Sound for Animation

Audio plays a vital role as the sonic counterpart to the visual language of animation. Music and Sound Design students contribute to the process by scoring music that matches key story beats and informs the viewer of the emotional context of each scene. Students also record and design custom sound effects that lend realism and credibility to the visuals.

Altogether, this collaborative process involves a high degree of creative problem-solving and coordination across different areas of expertise.

Creative music making

Nearly everyone has a unique relationship with music, although the points of entry vary from person to person. Students studying Music and Sound Design build upon their music-making skills by applying compositional techniques and methods to a variety of creative goals.  We celebrate the cross-disciplinary nature of music as a community of musicians with diverse backgrounds and interests—from folk guitar and electronic beat-making to cinematic orchestral scores. Listen and enjoy!
