DigiPen Institute of Technology’s K-12 Department is hiring for our School Year programs.

We are looking for lead teachers, teaching assistants, lead experience coordinators, experience coordinators, and administrative assistants to represent DigiPen, to oversee student engagement in learning, and to create a safe and professional learning environment. We need candidates who are enthusiastic, flexible, eager to learn, and able to remain professional at all times. Check out the list of job positions available below.

  • Programs include Summer Workshops, DigiPen Homeschool Academy, ProjectFUN Weekend Workshops, Online Programs, Afterschool, select off-site after school programs, and occasional special events.
  • We do not offer significant training for School Year Programs, please indicate your skill set on your application.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Attributes:

  • Extensive knowledge in computer science, art and animation, game design, engineering, music and sound design or other relevant experience
  • Record of completing assigned work on time and to scope
  • Eagerness to grow and learn
  • Ability to change plans quickly and remain calm under pressure
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • A service oriented attitude

Bonus Skills/Attributes:

  • Previous experience with K-12 students
  • Leadership or presentation experience
  • Teaching experience

 

We are seeking intermediate or higher knowledge in one or more areas within the subjects listed.

 

Art and Animation

  • 12 Principles of Animation
  • Maya
  • Art fundamentals (perspective, shading, form, and color theory)
  • Ability to learn new software quickly
  • Costuming, performance art, or puppetry

 

Game Design

  • Basic programming skills in any high-level language (variable, iteration, conditionals, and functions)
  • Enthusiastic and frequent player of tabletop and video games
  • Ability to learn new software quickly

 

Engineering

  • Intermediate knowledge of Arduino programming
  • Basic electronics and breadboarding skills
  • Physics (mechanical)
  • Basic R/C Flight or Car experience (for flight, intermediate experience is strongly preferred)
  • Basic model rocketry experience (intermediate preferred)

 

Music & Sound Design

  • Intermediate music and sound design (digital recording experience strongly preferred)
  • Ability to learn new software quickly
  • Ability to read music

 

Programming

  • C (variables, iteration, conditionals, pointers, arrays, functions, derived data types, and basic searching and sorting)
  • Java (variables, iteration, conditionals, arrays, functions, derived data types, basic searching and sorting, classes and object oriented principles)
  • Javascript (variables, iteration, conditionals, arrays, functions, derived data types, basic searching and sorting, classes and object oriented principles)
  • Ability to learn new software quickly

 

Young Explorers (Grades 1-3)

  • Basic art and animation skills
  • Basic programming skills

Compensation

$16-$18 per hour (depending on experience and for off-site positions)

  • Assist the teacher with the instruction of DigiPen approved curriculum and classroom management
  • Engage all students in active learning
  • Maintain a safe, productive, friendly environment for all
  • Communicate with parents, peers, administrators, and students quickly and effectively
  • May lead some lessons over the course of the workshop if needed
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Ensure student engagement and an optimal ProjectFUN Activities experience
  • Set-up, implement, and lead activities sessions for all ages
  • Assist the K-12 Team with student check-in and with operating the sign-in table in the lobby
  • Manage daily lunchtime procedures, such as monitoring the flow of the lunch lines
  • Operate the Express Drop-off and Pick-up
  • Guard all of the building exits to ensure student safety
  • Assist the K-12 Team and other DigiPen Departments with administrative tasks
  • Help answer questions from students and parents
  • Substitute in the classroom for teaching staff, as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
